Custom Motorcycle Painting
The following outlines my services for Slater’s Custom Paint. I do this for everything I paint.
You can also view my Gallery from the top Menu.
Custom Motorcycle Designs
I will be happy to use your design, or you can pick one of my current templates. Or, I’ll design a custom template just for you.
And I can apply an air-brush design to your bike or any other vehicle or motorcycle part.
I really like the tattoo style design because of the smooth lines that give a sense of motion or a sensation of moving forward.
Tattoo style painting is the oldest form of artwork in the world. It falls into three broad categories:
- Decoration-with no significant meaning
- Symbolic-meaning relating only to owner
- Pictorial-an illustration of a particular person or object
I recently started using the Sleeve Tattoo style. I think it is the better way to go because it can fall within any of the three categories, giving a large design, or a collection of smaller designs brought together in a unified theme and overall cohesiveness and meaning.
Motorcycle Fairing
Prep
I dismantle all necessary bike parts in order to design and paint them. Before painting, I repair and finish out any dents, scars, or scrapes, finishing it out smooth and slick.

Paint
When I paint your bike, I sand all panels down to the factory primer, or down to the bare metal if it needs it.
Then I repair any damaged area, customizing any metal, plastic, or fiberglass panel.
After that, I prime and seal all panels, block sanding them and preparing them for paint.
I spray four coats of base color and four to six coats of pearl or candy coating if needed and three to four coats of urethane clear coating. I let all of that dry twelve to twenty-four hours then water sand all panels with 1,000 grit sand paper.
After the prep is finished, I apply the artwork, giving each panel eight to ten coats of clear coating.
That dries 24 hours.
Then I water sand all panels with 1,000 grit sand paper.
After the prep is finished, I apply the artwork, giving each panel eight to ten coats of clear coating.
That dries 24 hours.
It already looks good, but I don’t stop there.
I wet sand again using a very fine (1,550, 2,000, and 3,000) grit paper.
Then I buff all panels three times with a compound and then buff two times with a polish.
I still don’t quit.
I finish out with a polish, then clean and detail every panel.

Fabrication
I can add created detail to your bike and give it a customized finishing-out process.
Fabricated motorcycle parts add to your bike a unique custom look. They are tailor made to order and they personalize your bike.
Being hand-crafted, I use care when attaching them to your bike. I use the same care and method of painting, ensuring they do not look like an add-on, but a manufactured part of your bike.
If you have any questions or concerns, give me a call. I’ll be glad to explain what I do and how I go about it.
